This is a brief introduction (approximately 2-2.5 minutes) to assist the audition panel to get to know the applicant.

Please address the following questions:

As a prospective student you’ve likely examined our website. How will you contribute to the artistic culture of the school?
What would the challenges be in collaborating and learning with similar selective entry dance/drama/music students? What would you find enjoyable about this?
What are your aspirations for your academic growth?
What are your goals for while you would be attending NHSPA in regards to your performing art? How would you go about this?

Applicants submit only one, 2 minute video which consists of either:

OPTION 1:

2 minute solo in Modern/ Contemporary or Classical Ballet style.

OR YOU MAY CHOOSE

OPTION 2:

1 minute solo in Modern/ Contemporary or Classical Ballet style

to be combined with

1 minute solo video in a style of your choice

(These two 1-minute solos must be uploaded as only one 2 minute video on the Application Form)
Applicants to identify themselves at the beginning of their video
Ensure audio quality of the video is clear
Record your audition in a room with neutral acoustics (not a large hall or outside) and preferably not in a confined space within your home.
Applicants should be dressed in appropriate attire (please see below)
Applicants’ full body must be fully visible in the video at all times as maintaining interpretation is an important part of the audition. Also consider the colour of your dance attire compared to the background of your space to ensure that your body is clearly visible.
Applicant not to be filmed at a distance or with other dancers
Ensure you demonstrate a variety of skills that show your range of movement. This may include movements that demonstrate your flexibility in various parts of the body, your ability to control movements, balance, turns, elevation and movement that locomotes. Please avoid acrobatics and unsafe movements.

Remember to review the video before uploading to the Application Form and ensure that it is appropriate for audition.

Applicants will be assessed on:

Girls: Leotard/tights/unitard/bare feet

Boys: T-shirt/tights/bare feet
